Student Hub Acceptable Use Policy

1. Purpose

This Acceptable Use Policy explains what is, and is not, acceptable when using the Student Hub, so that the Community stays respectful and safe, our marking and feedback tools are used fairly, and everyone’s work and privacy is protected. It applies alongside, and forms part of, our Student Hub Terms and Conditions.

2. Who this Policy applies to

This Policy applies to everyone who uses the Student Hub, including:

students with a Hub account;
tutors and advisers using the tutor-facing views; and
parents and guardians, in relation to the guardian-visible features (progress summary, billing and the contact-the-tutor form).

3. General standards of conduct

Whenever you use the Hub, you must:

treat other students, tutors and staff with respect and courtesy;
not harass, bully, threaten, intimidate or demean any other person;
not post or send anything that is hateful, discriminatory or degrading on the basis of race, ethnicity, religion, gender, sexuality, disability or any other personal characteristic;
not post or send sexual content, sexually suggestive material, or anything else that is not appropriate for a study platform used by school-age students;
not share another person’s personal information (such as their address, phone number, school, or social media details) without their consent; and
not post anything defamatory, obscene, or that promotes or incites violence, self-harm, or illegal activity.

4. Community — discussion board and publications library

When posting in the Community (discussion threads, the weekly practice prompt, the publications library or a study group), you must:

keep discussion on topic — VCE English study, essays, feedback and exam preparation;
not post spam, advertising, solicitation, or promotion of unrelated products, services or other tutoring providers;
not post another student’s essay, private feedback or personal work without that student’s consent;
not copy a model response, or another student’s shared work, into your own essay and submit it as your own (see clause 6, Academic Integrity); and
not attempt to edit, misrepresent, or impersonate a tutor-verified or pinned post.

Our tutors and moderators may remove posts, lock threads, or restrict a user’s access to the Community where this Policy is breached.

5. Messages — the tutor messaging platform

The Messages tool is for communicating with your own tutor or adviser about your studies, feedback and scheduling. You must not:

send unsolicited messages, spam or chain messages;
attempt to contact a student or tutor you are not connected with through the Hub;
use Messages to ask a tutor to complete an assessment or piece of work on your behalf for submission as your own; or
use Messages to harass a tutor, or for any purpose unrelated to your tutoring.

As set out in our Student Hub Terms and Conditions, we and our tutors may review Messages where reasonably necessary for safety, moderation or legal compliance.

6. Essays, submissions and the Auto-Marker — academic integrity

You must only submit your own original work for marking or feedback, whether to a human tutor or to the Auto-Marker. In particular, you must not:

submit work that was substantially written by someone else and present it as your own;
submit work generated wholesale by an AI tool and present it as your own original writing for marking, feedback, or any VCAA-related assessment purpose; or
ask another student, or a tutor, to write or substantially rewrite an assessment piece for you to submit elsewhere as your own.

In relation to the Auto-Marker specifically, you must not:

use bots, scripts or other automated means to submit content to the Auto-Marker;
attempt to reverse-engineer, extract, probe, stress-test or otherwise interfere with the Auto-Marker, its underlying AI models, or its marking rubric logic;
upload viruses, malware or files designed to disrupt the tool; or
attempt to bypass any usage limits (for example, weekly submission caps) that apply to your plan.

When uploading drafts, PDFs or photos of handwritten work, only upload your own work. Do not upload another person’s private information, or more of a third party’s copyrighted material (such as a published text) than is reasonably necessary for feedback purposes, such as a short quotation.

7. My Lessons — video content

Lesson videos, masterclasses and recorded live sessions are made available for your own personal study only. You must not:

download, screen-record, or re-upload any lesson video or masterclass;
publicly share, distribute, or post lesson content anywhere outside the Hub; or
livestream, broadcast, or otherwise give another person outside your own account access to a masterclass or live session.

8. Tutor and adviser use of the Hub

Tutors and advisers using the Hub’s tutor-facing views (for example, to assign lessons, review essays, or manage a marking queue) must:

only access a student’s information for legitimate tutoring purposes connected to that student;
keep student essays, messages and personal information confidential; and
not share a student’s essays, feedback, messages or personal information outside the Hub without proper authorisation from us and, where appropriate, the student or their guardian.

9. Account security

You must not:

share your login details with anyone else;
attempt to access another user’s account, essays, messages or personal information; or
attempt to bypass Subscription or paywall gating, session controls, or any other access control protecting the Hub.

If you discover a security vulnerability or gain access to something you shouldn’t, please report it to hello@theenglishkit.com.au rather than exploring or exploiting it further.

10. Prohibited technical conduct

Across all parts of the Hub, you must not:

upload or transmit viruses, malware or other harmful code;
scrape, crawl, or use automated tools to extract data from the Hub;
attempt to reverse-engineer or decompile the Hub, the Auto-Marker, or any other Hub tool; or
take any action that could disable, overburden, or impair the proper functioning of the Hub, such as a denial-of-service-style attack.

11. Guardian conduct

Parents and guardians using the guardian view, including the contact-the-tutor form, must communicate respectfully and only in relation to their own linked student.

12. Reporting a concern

If you see content or behaviour on the Hub that concerns you, or that you think breaches this Policy, please tell us at hello@theenglishkit.com.au. Where relevant, please include a link, screenshot, or description so we can look into it promptly.

13. What happens if this Policy is breached

Where we or a tutor reasonably believe this Policy has been breached, we may, at our discretion and depending on the severity and context of the breach:

remove or restrict the relevant content;
issue a warning;
restrict access to a particular Hub feature (for example, Community or Messages only); or
suspend or terminate the account, in accordance with our Student Hub Terms and Conditions.

Where a breach raises a safety concern involving a student under 18, we may notify the student’s parent or guardian and, where we are required to by law, relevant authorities.

14. Changes to this Policy

We may update this Policy from time to time. Continued use of the Hub after an update takes effect means you accept the current version of this Policy.
